Making Relationships Soulful

Have you have ever tried to bring the awareness gained from your spiritual practices into everyday relationships but didn’t know how? Maybe you feel frustrated because your spiritual practices aren’t designed for that.

Many “spiritual” traditions encourage us to jettison our ego and transcend relationship. It’s not surprising, then, that we end up feeling frustrated when we try and apply those practices to our relationships. Even though we gain deep insights through the path of spirit, our everyday relationships with our lovers, friends and family may still be suffering.

The SoulJazz programs help us develop a different but equally important path – not the path of spirit, but the path of soul. The path of soul is not about transcendence but about finding the sacredness in relationship. It is about being right here, discovering mystery in the sweaty ambiguity of life. It is about wanting to know you and be known by you. It is about taking the risk to open ourselves and be seen in all our imperfections. To be soulful is to stop waiting to get it all together. It is about saying “Yes!” and just diving in. To be soulful is to be vulnerable, to let go of our instinct for protection and instead, follow our deepest desire for connection.
